About Reading Retreat

Set on the banks of the River Thames in the beautiful Goring Gap, Reading Retreat provides a calm and scenic base for teams to meet, collaborate, and unwind. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere, with food and drinks served throughout the day, making it easy to move between focused sessions, informal conversations, shared meals, and downtime.

The venue is suitable for smaller meetings as well as larger company gatherings, with flexible rooms that can be arranged for presentations, conferences, leadership days, private dining, team meetings, and away days. The surrounding riverside setting and countryside provide plenty of opportunities for fresh air and relaxed team activities.

Reading Retreat has 47 boutique bedrooms, with room types ranging from cosy Snug rooms to more spacious Riverside Suites. Bedrooms are arranged across two main outlooks:

Riverside rooms, with views towards the River Thames.

Countryside rooms, overlooking Streatley village and the surrounding hills.

Room categories include Snug, Comfy, Superior, and Suite rooms.

Some rooms can interconnect, making them suitable for groups and team stays.

All bedrooms have private bathrooms.

15 rooms can be made up as twin rooms, so can sleep up to 62 in individual beds across 47 rooms. 

Dining & Facilities

The venue’s riverside restaurant and bar provide relaxed spaces for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and informal team gatherings. Event packages can include meeting-room hire, high-speed Wi-Fi, natural daylight, river views, a flat-screen TV, flipcharts and pens, refreshments, pastries, working lunches, and afternoon snacks.

On site pub: Set on a stretch of the Thames rich in history, The Boathouse Pub & Bar has been everything from 16th-century stables to a 19th-century boathouse. Now, it’s been thoughtfully restored as a cosy, laid-back spot to eat, drink, and unwind by the water.

Goring & Streatley station is just a short walk from the hotel, allowing for a smooth, car-free arrival experience for guests travelling by rail.
